Bears Make the Best Reading Buddies is the story of Adelaide, who brings a bear to school as her reading buddy. At first, her teacher is apprehensive, but Adelaide expertly makes a case for why bears make good reading buddies. She notes how bears like a variety of genres, listen keenly as you sound out words and are supportive as you make your way to the end. This book provides a great message on the importance of reading without being too preachy. The illustrations are detailed and colorful. I especially appreciate how the illustrator incorporates diversity among the other characters.
